Woven Tops

For the last 5 years of my career I have focused on designing for the “We the Free” line at Free People. I currently works as the lead designer for the WTF Woven Tops team.

We The Free is a collection of wardrobe staples that blend timeless designs with hand-touched details for an untraditionally classic take on everyday dressing. We The Free collection takes inspiration from heritage, lived-in favorites and reimagines them with unexpected and unique details to add a creative touch to every outfit you wear.

WOVEN TOPS + DRESSES

Prior to working for the We The Free brand I designed collection Dresses, Woven Tops, Knits, Skirts and Sweaters. Throughout my time designing Collection I had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of fabrications, silhouettes, washes and customers. I was drawn to designing the “all girl” silhouettes which eventually led to me working as the lead designer when the We The Free line was relaunched for woven tops in 2018

 

DESIGN PROCESs

My design process is a constantly evolving process that always starts with a story or a trend.

My design process includes a mix of mocked up prototypes, CADs in Procreate or Photoshop, and sketches depending on what is right for the style. Every month I pull together a line of up to 20 styles. Typically I like to balance out the line by working into 2-3 different trends to be sure to cover all of the different silhouettes and fabrications.

I have always love to paint in my free time and in more recent years have been commissioned by various families to paint abstract large scale Oil Paintings for their homes. I draw inspiration from the colors and textures found in nature.
